Kangra in Himachal Pradesh, India has been producing quality
orthodox black tea since 1852 which was internationally acclaimed
and won awards, medals and certificates. |

Distinctive
regional flavour coupled with rich liquor are flag marks of the Kanga tea.
Quality green tea, rich in antioxidants, is also produced in this
region and its uniqueness is that it is hand manufactured by the
small growers. Today, in India, Kangra is the only region having
pure china hybrid tea plantations with practically no pest
infestation.
The conference “Kangra Tea Vision 2020” offers a platform for
interaction among tea producers, traders, consumers and policy
makers for promoting Kangra tea globally. Major focus of the
conference would be to:
- Highlight the unique quality attributes of Kangra tea.
- Organic tea cultivation
- Showcasing diversified tea products
- Business development in context of global economy
Venue
The conference will be held at Institute of Himalayan Bioresource
Technology, Palampur, Himachal Pradesh (www.ihbt.res.in) located at
Latitude 76o33’29” E, Longitude 32o06’20” N and elevation 1356 m on
November 27-28, 2007. During this period the weather at Palampur
would be moderately cold with minimum and maximum temperature of
10oC and 20oC, respectively. Light warm clothing will be needed.
Palampur is well connected by train, road and air.

Kangra Tea Expo 2007 (27-29 November, 2007)
Kangra Tea Expo is being organized for all the stakeholders to
exhibit their respective interests and products under one roof.
Stalls measuring 3mx3m are available @ Rs. 18,000/-. Additional
space will be provided on extra cost @ Rs 1000/- per square meter.
Accommodation
Accommodations have been blocked around Palampur for registered
Conference and Expo participants. Delegates are requested to
complete the registration process along with request for
accommodation. Tariff structure ranges from Rs. 1500 to Rs. 5000 per
day. Rebate may be admissible to the participants who confirm and
book well in time.
