Tea Board of India
Tea Board of India was established in 1953 by an Act of Parliament
and comes under the Ministry of Commerce. Tea Board helps to
implement the Government's regulations and policies for the overall
functioning of the tea industry. Acting as a facilitator for the
development of the tea industry in India, the Tea Board promotes tea
research and exports of tea, collects and disseminates statistical
data as well as encourages labor welfare programs among a host of
other activities all aimed at ensuring the health and vibrancy of
the world's largest producer of tea. Tea Board of India is headed by
its Chairman, appointed by the Government of India and headquartered
at Kolkata.
Consultative Committee of Plantation Associations (CCPA)
The Consultative Committee of Plantation Associations was formed In
1956 - and is the apex forum comprising the Indian Tea Association,
United Planters' Association of Southern India, Tea Association of
India, Darjeeling Tea Association, Indian Tea Planters' Association,
Assam Tea Planters' Association, Bharatiya Cha Parishad, Terai
Indian Planters' Association, North Eastern Tea Association and
Kangra Valley Small Tea Planters' Association. The Indian Tea
Association functions as the Secretariat of the CCPA. The Chairman,
ITA is the ex-officio Chairman of CCPA, while the President, UPASI
is the ex-officio Vice-Chairman of CCPA.
Indian Merchant Tea Exporter’s Forum (IMTEF)
In December 2001, leading merchant tea exporters of Indian tea came
together to form a common forum called Indian Merchant Tea
Exporter’s Forum (IMTEF) to promote and protect the interest of the
Indian merchant tea exporter. IMTEF was formed under the auspices of
the Tea Auction Buyers’ Association of Calcutta (TABAC). The forum
quickly gained the official recognition from the Tea Board of India
and has become the voice of India’s merchant tea export community.

IMTEF provides a common platform for merchant exporters to meet and
discuss issues and strategies for promoting exports of Indian tea.
It seeks to synchronize export promotion through buyer-seller meets
and visits to overseas markets. It co-ordinates and liaises with
official bodies in India and the Indian Tea Board. It provides
opportunities for merchant exporters to officially interact with
visiting foreign buyers and delegations. It incorporates a code of
ethics for all its members by which they commit to uphold the
prestige and reputation of Indian tea through their deliveries, thus
providing foreign importers a reliable source of imports. It
promotes and projects the image of India as a stable international
supplier of a vast spectrum of teas, a “ value for money” prices and
the image of Indian tea as a specialty lifestyle product.

IMTEF is steered by a Chairman and Vice- Chairman and a Core
Committee of six members.
ITPO
India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO) is the nodal agency of the
Government of India for promoting the country's external trade. ITPO,
during its existence of nearly three decades, in the form of Trade
Fair Authority of India and Trade Development Authority, has played
a proactive role in catalysing trade, investment and technology
transfer processes. Its promotional tools include organizing of
fairs and exhibitions in India and abroad, Buyer-Seller Meets,
Contact Promotion Programmes, Product Promotion Programmes,
Promotion through Overseas Department Stores, Market Surveys and
Information Dissemination.
Federation of All India Tea Traders Associations (FAITTA)
FAITTA is a Body of All India Tea Traders, Packeters, Exporters. Its
members contribute to market more than 80% of All India Tea
production.

Statewise traders bodies are members of FAITTA along with individual
subscribing members. The organization provides a platform to members
for interaction among themselves, producer bodies, Government
bodies, etc, for betterment of the trade and industry.
The South India Tea Exporters Association (SITEA)
In the year 2000, some leading Tea Exporters based in Coimbatore
formed an Association to protect the interests of Tea exporters in
South India and to promote Export of Tea to the rest of the World.

SITEA was formally registered as a company in the year 2002 under
Section 25 of the Companies Act.

SITEA is presently having about 30 leading Tea Exporters from South
India as Members today. Besides making representation to the Central
Excise and Customs Department, State Government, Tea Board and
Ministry of Commerce & industry on issues affecting South Indian Tea
Exports – right from quality to taxation. SITEA had hosted
Delegation from various countries.

SITEA is run by a Managing Committee consisting of nine elected
Members and headed by a Chairman and a Vice-Chairman. |
